Coaching Programme

coaching for self care and emotional resilience

Coaching to Weather Any Weather and Build a Bright Future

Life has it's challenges. Sometimes it can feel like one after another. At other times we might feel like we are just getting on track and something comes along and hit us out of the blue. We might feel like if we could only get xyz in place, everything will be fine, but it just doesn't work out like that. Or we might just feel like we are a bit stuck, with an ongoing sense of stagnation. But the GREAT news is that through building our self-care, awareness and resilience we can really learn to ground ourselves through these occasions, know what we need to do for ourselves, and really ride those waves.  And once we learn to ride those waves, we can become less anxious about the next one hitting, and this frees up our mental space, energy and creativity to build the life we want to live!

At the root of this resilience is self-care. Self-care isn't selfish - it's actually the opposite. When we self care, we don't need to be overly-dependent on others (of course we can still connect and be supported).  Imagine a street where everyone tends to their own garden, and waters it until it flourishes - with everyone able to care for their own gardens in this way the whole street thrives, of course with any spare water the neighbours can help each other out.  In the same way, when we all undertake self care, we can all thrive. We are also more resourced, and best placed to contribute our gifts to the world.  Self-care also isn't weak -  sometimes it is doing the harder stuff - setting boundaries, or ending unhealthy habits. This is where my coaching comes in, to be alongside you in this process. Lastly, self-care isn't trying to look like a glossy Instagram image or getting it perfect, it's about finding what works for you.

Benefits of Coaching

Coaching isn't about giving you advice or telling you what to do. Its about giving you the dedicated time, supportive space, asking you the right questions, and through tools and techniques helping you to explore your own goals, tap into your own inner resources, and thrive to your full potential.  Some benefits people often find from having a coach are

  • Clarity - get clear on what you really want, and what's getting in the way
  • Confidence - Build self-belief and feel grounded in your own decisions
  • Motivation - Reconnect with your energy and sense of direction
  • Accountability - Stay on track with gentle encouragement and structure
  • Better Boundaries - learn to say yes (and no) in ways that feel good
  • Resilience - Navigate challenges with more calm and creativity
  • Purpose  - Tap into a greater sense of meaning in your life
  • Self-awareness - Understand yourself better and respond to life with intention

My Personalised Approach to Coaching You

I am someone who has walked the walk in facing life's challenges and I'm now  here to help others rise to the occasion of building resilience and going on to create the life they want to live.

Everyone is different, and the coaching approach that is fantastic for one person isn't necessarily the right fit for someone else. Some people thrive on SMART goals and a "say it like it is approach" whilst others may be looking for a gentler and more reflective pace.

This is why, when you work with me, we'll start by looking at what is right for you and what you respond to, so we can tailor an approach and co-create the coaching journey together.

In Focus: Top Lessons Life Has Taught Me

I had alcohol addiction throughout my 20s and into my 30s. In becoming sober I was called to face up to my past trauma without turning to a bottle, learn to respond to my emotional own needs, and find my own way to move from basic survival into fully thriving in life. This was hugely challenging, with stumbles along the way. At first, I just wanted someone else to come and rescue me. In the end, I discovered I could rescue myself. I learnt some hard lessons along the way - not everyone may relate to them - but I share with you as part of my personal journey.

1. "Nobody's coming" - not as dark and scary as it sounds! However, I spent many years under the impression it was someone else's job to save me, waiting for that knight in shining armour. Whilst it's a hard realisation, things did eventually get easier when I understood they aren't coming. Of course we still have connections, support, close relationships. But people also have their own stuff. Letting go of the idea of a magic person coming who would fix everything for me was a huge step on my journey. It freed me up to be that person for myself.

2. "Other people won't do what I want" - sounds very obvious, and it is inevitably frustrating, haha! But letting go of the false expectations that other people will or should act in the way I prefer, do what I want them to or waiting for them to automatically change eased my own suffering and allowed me to make aware decisions about my own relationships

3. "Achieving goals won't feel how I think when I get there" - I spent many years striving to get to that perfect point - that final pinnacle where I'd feel I'd got where I wanted and a sense of validation and contentment would settle inside. When I first became a teacher on Insight Timer, I looked forward to getting the first 100 plays on my meditation track, then first 1000, then 5000. At each stage I thought it would bring me that feeling of having "arrived". And of course whilst it felt nice, it didn't bring that hoped for everlasting peace. So, whilst goals can still be helpful, I hold them that little bit more lightly these days, and rather than putting it all on the future also seek my joy in the present moment around me.

I wonder what the top lessons are that life has taught you - and look forward to perhaps exploring this in coaching together :)
